Overview & how to submit your question
I was hoping you could give me a starting point... I am obviously in grade school, but not sure where to start working, nor how to transition to my next exercise.
Should the first exercises be perfect before I move on? I don’t know when to move onto the next exercise.
Is it ok to do this every day or should I be mixing it up with other activities?
When riding the active inside rein only, my horse will want to fall in on one side of the circle...I am worried that side of the circle is getting too flat/straight...
Is it better to start with the 'harder' side or 'easier' side?
I don't use my legs when I'm riding. I have a very forward moving horse. Should I just start working on managing my reins or focus on my leg waving?
I was not taught to teach steering with constant contact. Can you please elaborate on the advantages of constant contact and the disadvantage of giving more of a release when teaching steering?
What type of bit do you recommend for us to ride in?
When does a person advance from one technique to the next? Is it when the horse quits asking questions (this is what I assume)? I don’t remember hearing this mentioned anywhere but could have missed it, if so I apologize.

In my ride, I noticed my one 'experienced' gymkhana horse getting into tighter circles when I asked him to trot...maybe he was thinking the cone was a barrel?
I believe that my horse is in the high school stage and really want to get him finished so he can be somewhere close to Roxie.
Leg waving? My legs don’t seem to want to work in unison. They try to be in time with a swing or steps so they alternate. Especially at the walk and canter- the trot seems to come easier. Any suggestions?
Using the inside rein only on perfect circle ... I ask for bend to see her eye and she drops into a tight circle...
When riding circles or (clover leaf) I often feel I’m falling to the outside. I heard the tip about shake water from your ear if you felt you were falling in. Lmk if you have any different suggestions for falling out.
Do you have any advice on being able to sit big awkward trots?
Sometimes even though we are turning it still feels like his shoulders are pointed out. Any ideas as what’s going on here? How should I handle it?
How often do you do these with your horses, once they seem to ‘get it’? How often will you go back through and do just direct rein patterns, or indirect, etc? Are there situations where you’ll use one of the earlier patterns on an advanced horse to problem solve a higher level issue that comes up?
I found it easier to manage the reins at a walk… Do you still want me to move up to the next gait?
